Passive House Designer
Employer: Passive House Canada
Interest amongst the regulatory, design, and development communities in Passive House buildings is growing rapidly in British Columbia. This is partially in response to clear signals from both the Provincial Government and the City of Vancouver that energy efficiency regulations will be shifting rapidly to low energy new buildings with an emphasis on improved building envelopes and ventilation designs.
Passive House Canada, with the support of the City of Vancouver, is seeking to hire an Engineer or Architect with demonstrated and internationally recognized expertise in large Passive House building design.
The position has two key functions: to support Passive House project design teams and to teach Passive House Design and Construction courses. It is anticipated approximately equal time will be spent on the two functions. As an advisor, the successful candidate will provide free and confidential guidance to design teams, including on complex Passive House projects, acting as a sounding board and technical advisor to support design teams. As an educator, the successful candidate will apply their technical expertise in assisting with curriculum development and the delivery of Passive House courses offered by Passive House Canada.
The position will be based in Vancouver and will report to the Passive House Canada Education Manager in relation to education and, initially, to the Passive House Canada CEO in relation to design team advice. The capacity to work with distributed staff, colleagues and volunteers is required. As such, an ability to communicate and engage with people is fundamental. Being part of the team in a rapidly developing organization will require adaptability and a solution oriented focus. The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience being innovative and taking initiative, possessing the ability to prioritize activities and work without supervision.
